Fiber Trends Felted Clogs (one 3-hour class)

Requirements: You must have completed Beginning Knitting, or be able to cast on, bind off, knit, purl, increase, decrease, and pick up stitches.
Supplies:
You are required to provide the following supplies for this class.

  • Fiber Trends pattern for felted clogs, adult size
  • Supplies requried by pattern

Description: This is a great pattern!  The clogs are soft, cozy and warm!!  We’ll read through the pattern to understand all the parts.  I’ll have a completed clog, and one just knit but not yet felted, so we can look at the parts and understand how it is constructed.  You’ll get started on your first clog.

Entrelac – Knitting on the Bias (one 3-hour class)

Requirements: You must have completed Beginning Knitting, or be able to cast on, bind off, knit, purl, increase, decrease, and pick up stitches.
Supplies:
You are required to provide the following supplies for this class.

  • Worsted weight yarn  – small amounts of 5 different colors
  • Size 7 or 8 straight needles

Description: Entrelac creates bias knitting set “on point” that looks like basketweave.  We’ll get started and learn the techniques for creating the blocks and edge triangles.  You can knit a bit more and make a neckwarmer, or knit a lot more and create a lovely scarf.

Brioche (one 3-hour class)

Requirements: You must have completed Beginning Knitting, or be able to cast on, bind off, knit, purl, increase, decrease, and pick up stitches.
Supplies:
You are required to provide the following supplies for this class.
  • Worsted weight yarn, 200 yds of one color and 200 yds of a contrasting color
  • Size 6 or 7 circular needle

Description: Brioche knitting creates a kind of  “double knit” fabric.  But, it also sets one color on one side and another on the other side – making many items reversible.  We’ll start a flat piece of Brioche, making a scarf.

Brioche in the Round (one 3-hour class)  (more info and picture to come!)

Requirements: You must have completed the Brioche class, and understand the technique.
Supplies:
You are required to provide the following supplies for this class.

    • Worsted weight yarn, 200 yds of one color and 200 yds of a contrasting color
    • Size 6 or 7 circular needle, size ____

Description: We will apply the Brioche stitch to circular knitting, creating a hat.

Finish Up! (one 3-hour class)

Requirements: A desire to finish your projects.
Supplies:
You are required to provide the following supplies for this class.

  • Whatever projects you have that need finished – those with problems, questions, etc.

Description:   Get those projects finished, or get your questions answered to you CAN finish.

Shadow/Illusion Knitting (one 3-hour class)

Requirements: You must have completed Beginning Knitting, or be able to cast on, bind off, knit, purl, increase, decrease, and pick up stitches.
Supplies:
You are required to provide the following supplies for this class.

Description: Shadow, or Illusion, knitting creates patterns that can only be seen when the knitting is turned a certain way.  Two colors of yarn are used, and only knit and purl stitches are needed.  We will create a water drops washcloth.

Crochet for Beginners (one 3-hour class)

Requirements: None
Supplies: You are required to provide the following supplies for this class.

  • one skein worsted weight yarn (Vanna’s Choice acrylic is good) in a light color, 2 more colors if you want a mulit-color granny square
  • size G or H crochet hook

Description: We will learn the basics of the slip, single, half-double, and double crochet stitches.  Then, we’ll make a Granny Square.

Crochet Edgings (one 3-hour class)  (picture to come!)

Requirements: You must have completed beginning Crochet, or be able to crochet basic stitches.
Supplies:
You are required to provide the following supplies for this class.

  • one skein worsted weight yarn, any light color
  • size H crochet hook
  • a few pieces of knitted or crocheted work to put the edges on

Description: We’ll learn to edge with single crochet, reverse single crochet, shell stitch, and picot stitch.

Slip Stitch Knitting (one 3-hour class)

Requirements: You must have completed Beginning Knitting, or be able to cast on, bind off, knit, purl, increase, decrease, and pick up stitches.

Supplies: You are required to provide the following supplies for this class.

  • one skein each of two different, nicely contrasting colors of yarn
  • Size 6 or 7 straight needles

Description: Slip stitch knitting is accomplished with two different colors of yarn.  Each color is knit for 2 rows.  When knitting with one color, the stitches of the opposite color are slipped (not worked) on those rows, and vice versa.  The result is great two-color knitting patterns without the work and fuss of Fair Isle knitting.  We will create a sampler of different types of slip stitch patterns.

Beads in Knitting (one 3-hour class)

Requirements: You must have completed Beginning Knitting, or be able to cast on, bind off, knit, purl, increase, decrease, and pick up stitches.

Supplies: You are required to provide the following supplies for this class.

  • scraps of sock yarn
  • Size 1, 2, or 3 straight needles
  • Size 10 metal crochet hook
  • Size 6 beads, or size that will allow 2 strands of your sock yarn to go through

Description:  There are two ways to get beads into knitting.  One is to string them on the yarn.  We will learn how to add the beads as they are needed, using a crochet hook.  We knit to the spot where the bead needs to be, put a bead on the crochet hook, remove the stitch with the crochet hook, slide the bead onto the stitch, put the stitch back on the needle, and then work it. Whew!  Really, it’s easy!

We’ll make a beaded necklace bag, knit flat and sewn up the side seams.

Duplicate Stitch (embroidery) on Knitting (one 3-hour class)

Requirements: You must have completed Beginning Knitting, or be able to cast on, bind off, knit, purl, increase, decrease, and pick up stitches.

Supplies: You are required to provide the following supplies for this class.

  • some piece to embroider on (sweater, mitten, hat, swatch)

Description: Duplicate stitch is embroidering on the stockinette side of your garment, and recreating the V of the stockinette stitch.  It’s easy, but can take a long time if the pattern is detailed.  I will supply the embroidery medium and needles, and a few small patterns to get you started.

Needlefelting (one 3-hour class)

Requirements: None

Supplies: You are required to provide the following supplies for this class.

  • some felted item to needlefelt on

Description: Needlefelting is the art of applying roving (unspun wool) to an item using a sharp, barbed needle.  The punching of the needle ‘felts’ the roving into the item.

I will supply the roving and needles to use.
